Continuing to live where you already live is often the best choice for many positive reasons. It can be the least expensive, least disruptive, and easiest decision you can make. While this might be the easy answer, you need to recognize that your house may still require some major structural accommodations to meet your needs as you age in place.

For some, there are just as many good reasons to move: to be closer to their grandchildren, aging parents, or grown children; to have a slower pace of life or a lower cost-of-living; to enjoy a specific destinations like the beach, the mountains, the desert, historical or small towns or college towns. Some want to avoid traffic and others want to enjoy an urban lifestyle. Increasingly, retirees want the adventure of a new start.
• Purchase a second home?
If you are financially able, you might purchase a second home to enjoy part of the year AND maintain your current residence as your home base.
