Here are some other “where will you retire?” considerations that need to be made. Some may require trade-offs between what you consider good and what is best.
• Is the lifestyle “just right”—not too fast or too slow?
• Will you fit the socioeconomics of the area?
• Will the state’s lack of income tax be offset by a high sales tax, vehicle tax, estate or inheritance tax?
• Will the environment, climate, and amenities be compatible with your needs?
• Will you get enough intellectual stimulation?
• Are there enough activities to satisfy your interests?
• Can you engage in the activities that are important to you?
• Is the climate compatible with your physical needs?
• Are there good hospitals nearby?
• If you have a complex medical condition, you’ll want to go where the experts are but is that location’s climate and environment good for your medical condition?
• Will this destination have most of the other desirables on your list?
